Knowledge mapping is an exercise that helps in defining the knowledge and expertise level of the organisation and the individuals working in it. It also defines the knowledge requirements of the organisation/role in terms of business domain and functional skills. It is a key input to define an action plan for bridging the internal and the organisation knowledge gaps through knowledge transfer sessions; and also provides the content requirement of key technologies such as portals, data warehousing and document management systems.
